“In today’s world, Ray White is one of the pre-eminent names in the property and real estate industry. We have expertise in buying, selling, renting, property management, development, overseas buyers and everything in between, with branches that specialise in home loans and insurance as well.”
In fact, with annual turnover exceeding $27 billion, we truly are one of the biggest voices in Australian property.
And within this, the Ray White Surfers Paradise Group on the Gold Coast is the largest branch in the
entire network of offices, with 23 office locations reaching far and wide across the globe.
But how did we get here? It all started more than 110 years ago, in Crows Nest, Queensland.
From humble beginnings
The year was 1902, and Ray White himself had moved to Crows Nest from remote western Queensland, where his family’s business had failed to get off the ground. Mr White began operating out of a disused railway shed on the edge of town, providing a wide range of services and selling anything people needed. Early listings include pianos, buggy harnesses, stoves – anything and everything there was to be found.
On 7 December, 1907, Mr White held his first land sale, for 12 buildings on the Nokomis Estate, to be sold at auction – a method that has proven popular through to this day. By diversifying into insurance sales for a New Zealand company and continuing to provide a wide range of sales, business began to boom.
By taking these rural connections and strong focus on the people around him to Brisbane, Ray White began to make strong inroads into the property sales business. In turn, he set up a dynasty that would last for decades to come, spreading far and wide across Australia and globally.
Ray White is a household name in Australia and New Zealand,
a name synonymous with the property and real estate industry, home loans, mortgages and insurance. With an annual turnover exceeding $27 billion, the group comprises over 13,000 people and nearly 1000 franchise offices.
